Saronic selects Texas for $3 billion autonomous shipyard

US autonomous vessel manufacturer Saronic has selected Brownsville, Texas, as the location of Port Alpha, a new shipyard dedicated to the production of autonomous and optionally crewed surface vessels. Representing an investment of more than $3 billion, the facility is expected to become one of the largest shipyards specifically designed for autonomous naval systems. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026, with production expected to start in 2028.

China Advances Type 076 Drone Carrier Programme

The newly established EU–Ukraine Drone Alliance brings together European defence companies and Ukrainian drone manufacturers to accelerate the development, production and deployment of next-generation unmanned systems. Founding members include Quantum Systems, TAF Industries, Vyriy, Vampire and several other companies aiming to combine Ukraine’s battlefield experience with Europe’s industrial capacity and investment ecosystem. The US Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) has selected Tesseract Ventures to continue developing the Containerized Autonomous Drone Delivery System (CADDS), a programme designed to transport, store and launch large numbers of autonomous drones from standard ISO shipping containers. The system aims to provide rapidly deployable, scalable launch capabilities that can be integrated onto trucks, ships or fixed infrastructure without requiring dedicated drone facilities.
